The 2018 Summer Show came to London this week, with Cambridge's ARCSOC setting up shop in the Nicholls & Clarke Loft off Shoreditch High Street, amidst the London Festival of Architecture. In Wednesday’s scorching heat, both years of the MAUD course came together to build seventy tables, hang at least as many wires, and curate the product of our degrees thus far. Models cascaded across tabletops, echoing the unevenness of the London skyline visible through the loft windows. This was the first time all of our work had been displayed together and it was fascinating to finally see the full scope of the course, with projects covering many scales and themes situated across the globe.

Downstairs was filled with undergraduate work, arranged by each year as they pleased. The result was an eclectic celebration of architecture in its many forms. The progression of work from first to third year was wonderful to see, as well as the many directions in which students flourished.

Wednesday evening saw a wildly popular, if a little too hot, opening night. Several hundred visitors queued up for the evening, which included an awards ceremony and a talk from our outgoing Visiting Professor, Patrick Keiller. I am looking forward to what the next year will bring us and our 2019 exhibition.
